I am Dileep Sharma, a contemporary Indian artist whose journey is deeply rooted in the ancient yet ever-evolving spirit of India. My art does not imitate—it remembers, it questions, and it speaks.
Unlike modernists bound by borrowed aesthetics, I draw inspiration from the rich visual traditions of India—Maithili motifs, Bhojpuri rhythms, temple frescoes, and mythological symbolism. But tradition, for me, is not a cage. It is a living archive—a foundation upon which I experiment freely.
In the early years, my work reflected the rustic beauty of village life, capturing its essence through earthy palettes and cultural narratives. As time unfolded, so did my expression. I moved away from realism toward abstraction, guided by an emotional force that sought honesty above perfection.
Color is my language. Anger, joy, wonder, and silence find form in vibrant reds, prismatic yellows, and deep blues. I do not paint to please the eye—I paint to awaken something within.
My process is intuitive. I do not always begin with a plan. The brush leads; I follow. In this surrender, I often discover deeper truths—about the world, about memory, about myself.
My works have been described as poetic, meditative, and intense. They are an emotional geography, shaped by time, culture, and an unrelenting desire to remain true to what is raw and real.

Like changing skies, my work shifted—sometimes calm, sometimes wild, always searching for a truth only paint could tell.
2002–2008
Roots in Tradition
Guided by the spirit of Ancient Indian Art, I devoted these years to mastering the craft of drawing and shaping my own visual language. My early works reflected rural life and cultural motifs — seeds of inspiration that would later blossom into bold explorations of form and color.
2008–2009
Myth and Meaning
In this period, I created nearly fifty paintings, deepening my understanding of Indian mythology. These narratives became a lasting thread in my work, enriching both its intellectual depth and visual storytelling.
2010
Breaking Boundaries
A pivotal year marked by freedom and abstraction. Thick brushstrokes, geometric patterns, and a fearless embrace of vibrant blues, reds, yellows, and greens signaled my shift toward playful yet deliberate experimentation.
2011
Prismatic Poetry
My palette transformed into pure prismatic color, earning descriptions from critics as “a new poetry of the universe” and “a celebration of the natural world.” This was a fusion of realism and abstract expressionism, where color and form found new harmony.
2012
Inner Worlds
My focus turned inward, exploring metaphysical themes, cosmic abstraction, and the essence of self. Critics called the works luminous, vibrant, and deeply resonant — reflections of a refined, clear, and honest artistic voice.
2012–2018
Poetic Modernity
This era saw a seamless blend of modern abstraction with Maithili and Bhojpuri aesthetics. The work became more meditative, marked by clarity of line, rhythmic composition, and the vibrant colors that had become my signature.
